Good news music fans! We’ve released a children’s music app, Moozart. Well, we released it in 2010 and thousands of people paid to download it, BUT, thanks to changes in iOS over the years, a few new bugs needed to be worked out.
For the holidays, we’ve released an update to Moozart that fixes audio issues on iOS 8, provides retina graphics, stops intermittent crashes some people have encountered, provides stereo audio, and has better music. And we are now offering it for free! Get it now in the App Store.

Moozart Story

Shortly after the introduction of the iPad in 2010, meltmedia got super-excited about mobile application development and wanted to make an app. So, we formed a brainstorming group and came up with a winning idea: a simple, musical children’s app.

We took about two months out of our schedule to learn Objective-C, touch-based user interfaces, audio playback, parallax scrolling, and more. In layman’s terms we dedicated time to figuring out what would benefit children and researched the technical side of things to create Moozart.

We’ve gotten such great feedback about the app and many of us have installed the app for our own kids to play. Teachers all over the US have used it and written glowing feedback.

Then, iOS 7 came out and caused Moozart to crash intermittently. (Aww, poor Moozart.)

And iOS 8 broke caused the sound to stop working. (Aww, really poor Moozart!!)

The thing is, we’d been so busy with client work, we didn’t have the time to update Moozart until we hired a musician/developer to work with one of our iOS developers and fix the app. It has always been a spare-time pet project, and we ended up with more customers than we ever expected, who have reminded us of the sadness they and their children/students have experienced when Moozart stopped working.

So, here we are with a fantastic new update to Moozart. It’s got ultra-sharp retina graphics, better songs updated by a real professional musician, and works better on headphones. Anyone with young children will appreciate that last feature. Check it out and have fun making “moozic!”
